How do we distinguish the quality of Heat Resistant Adhesive Tape?
Heat Resistant Adhesive Tape, also known as adhesive tape used in high-temperature working environments. Mainly used for electronic industry purposes, with temperature resistance typically between 120 ℃ and 260 ℃.
It is commonly used for painting, baking leather processing, coating masking, fixing in electronic component manufacturing processes, printed circuit boards, and high-temperature processing masking.
High temperature tape includes KAPTON high temperature tape, Teflon high temperature tape, high temperature textured Masking tape, PET green high temperature tape, high temperature Double-sided tape, etc.
The quality of high-temperature adhesive tape on the market is not uniform, and some material manufacturers may even confuse it with genuine ones. Generally, unqualified high-temperature adhesive tapes can be divided into the following three types:
1. Substituting inferior products for high-quality ones. Generally, the qualified tape should be 0.051-0.052mm, with a substrate thickness of 0.028mm and a glue thickness of 0.022-0.025mm. However, some small factories now use 0.025mm substrate to reduce costs, but it is easy to break and has poor viscosity when used.
2. Being short of weight. Generally, increasing the thickness of the paper tube makes the tape appear very thick, but the actual length of the tape is not enough.
3. The use of glue is not qualified. The initial viscosity is good, but over time, the viscosity cannot be reached.
How can we distinguish between these high-temperature tapes mentioned above?
High temperature tape is mainly composed of two parts: substrate and adhesive.
Some manufacturers adopt a method to reduce costs and prices, and their true quality is greatly discounted.
Take KAPTON high temperature tape as an example. No matter its temperature resistance or insulation performance, the fake tape is far lower than the real polyimide tape. It is actually made of tawny PET film coated with silica gel.
Since the actual temperature of some industries does not need to be too high, not more than 260 ℃, and the maximum temperature resistance of PET is 220 ℃, it is not easy to find out in general.
What's more, it uses silicone glue instead of other glue, Its temperature resistance is far below 150 ℃.
Mainly identify from the following points:
1. Taste and appearance;
2. Residues after ignition and combustion;
3. Actual high temperature testing, at a high temperature of 260 ℃, check for residual adhesive, shrinkage, and other phenomena.
We can provide samples of polyimide tape for free to avoid quality problems caused by the improper use of high-temperature tape during the production process.
